West Brom will not appoint a manager before Saturday's game against Brentford, with caretaker James Shan set to be the man in the dugout at Griffin Park.

However, they are still reviewing the ideal candidates for the role, with Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett revealing that Slavisa Jokanovic and Alex Neil are the two leading contenders.

"#wbafc won’t have a new manager in place for #brentford on Saturday, I understand. But Jokanovic and Neil still primary candidates.

"Board deciding who is best for role, with uncertainty of whether it will be Championship or Prem Lg next season."

Shan oversaw a 3-0 win for the Baggies against Swansea last night, which eased any concerns some may have had about falling out the play-offs.

Albion are nine points behind second place but have the same advantage over the side in seventh so even now they look set for the lottery of the play-offs in May.

An international break follows the trip to the Bees this weekend, giving the board a two-week window to bring in the new man.

The Verdict

Given the manner of Darren Moore's sacking it's surprising that Albion didn't have someone to come in immediately.

But, Shan deserved credit for guiding the team to a win and it makes sense to use the upcoming break to get Moore's replacement in.

Jokanovic seems like the perfect candidate and Neil has proven himself at this level over the years so both are good options for West Brom.
