Leeds United will not be signing Matej Vydra, as they instead look to finalise a deal for Middlesbrough forward Patrick Bamford.

Reports have emerged revealing that the 24-year old Boro man will be having a medical tomorrow ahead of a proposed move to Elland Road.

And, Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay stated that it means the end of the Whites long-running pursuit of Derby County's Vydra.

The Czech international has been linked with a move to the Yorkshire club all summer, with a move appearing very close on several occasions.

However, Vydra is believed to have asked for a big increase in his salary, which put Leeds off earlier in the month and although talks appeared to resume, they are now opting for Bamford.

Vydra enjoyed a fabulous Championship campaign last time out, finishing the season with 21 goals and as the top scorer in the division as the Rams made the play-offs.

Meanwhile, Bamford scored 11 goals in the league, including a superb hat-trick against Leeds at the Riverside.

The Verdict

Given the fees involved, it didn't seem likely that Leeds were going to go in for both players and they've clearly made their mind up on Bamford now.

They are both fine options and Marcelo Bielsa would've surely been happy to work with either as they are a major upgrade on what the Whites currently have.

The supporters will also be glad that it finally puts to bed all the rumours that have persisted throughout the summer.
