Millwall are edging closer to a move for Murray Wallace, with Neil Harris also lining up other targets ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

According to Alan Nixon, usually a reliable source on Twitter, Millwall are edging closer to a move to lure Wallace away from Scunthorpe United.

The reliable journalist also confirmed that Millwall were chasing another deal, but remained coy on the target’s name.

Wallace has spent time with Falkirk and Huddersfield Town before excelling since his move to Scunthorpe.

The 25-year-old initially joined on-loan, before arriving permanently in January 2016.

Wallace has played a crucial role in helping the Irons reach back-to-back play-off campaigns, but has been able to help his side take the step up into the Championship.

Last season the centre-back made 54 appearances across all competitions, including the play-off semi-final with Rotherham United.

Wallace was unable to help Scunthorpe avoid defeat, with Rotherham beating the Irons 4-2 on aggregate.

Harris appears keen to add Wallace to his squad at The Den, as he looks to help Millwall improve on last season’s eighth placed finish in the Championship.

The Verdict

Wallace has done well at Scunthorpe, helping to transform the Irons into promotion contenders with some really impressive performances in defence.

He appears ready for the step up to the Championship, and at 25, needs to be testing himself.

For Millwall, he’d be a good addition as Harris looks to build on an impressive Championship return.
