West Brom’s managerial hunt seems to have suffered a blow with a reliable journalist providing an important update.

It had previously been reported by BBC Sport that Danny Cowley was amongst the frontrunners that West Brom were considering appointing as their permanent boss ahead of next season.

The Lincoln boss has been hugely impressive with the Imps this season and has guided them into League One after winning promotion from the fourth tier of English football this season.

Alan Nixon has revealed that the Cowley brothers aren't keen on a move to The Hawthorns, which certainly won't go down well with the Baggies supporters.

Nixon also went on to state that the wages on offer to become West Brom's new boss aren't the best, and insisted that they need to get a move on with talks, otherwise it'll be tougher to appoint a permanent manager in the future.

West Brom will be hoping that their side can win promotion back to the Premier League after they fell short in the play-off semi-final in agonising fashion as they missed out on a spot at Wembley after being defeated by Aston Villa on penalties.

James Shan is currently in charge of the first-team, as he was appointed as Darren Moore's successor until the end of this year's campaign.

But it seems highly unlikely that Shan will remain in charge at The Hawthorns, and West Brom will be hoping to have a new manager in place in the near future before their preparations for next season get underway.

The Verdict:

They need to have this sorted as soon as possible.

I'm still not a fan of West Brom getting rid of Darren Moore at such a crucial stage of the season, and I think that it cost them promotion.

Even though Cowley would be a good appointment for the Baggies, it isn't the end of the world as there are certainly better options out there for the season starts up in August.
