Despite reports to the contrary, Derby County are not preparing a club-record bid for Fenerbahçe striker Ferdi Kadioglu, according to The Athletic's Ryan Conway.

The 20-year-old striker was linked to the Rams in January and in the past week, Turkish site t24 has reported new interest from the East Midlands club.

The report claims that Derby are preparing a club-record £13 million offer in order to sign the Dutch forward in the upcoming transfer window.

Kadioglu impressed with Dutch second-tier side NEC Nijmegen, eight goals and 13 assists in the 2017/18 campaign, before sealing his move to Fenerbahçe in 2018.

The 20-year-old has shown some promise since arriving in Turkey, particularly this season when he has four goals and three assists in 22 appearances.

The Dutch forward may be a bright prospect but, according to Conway, he is not someone that the Rams are about to launch a bid for.

Speaking on Twitter, Conway suggested that the story in the Turkish media was likely his agent trying hard to drill up some interest and added that the Rams had never been keen.

The Verdict

There has been a lot of speculation about the links between the Rams and Kadioglu but Conway's claims appear to have provided some resolution.

He is a respected voice on Derby matters, so you feel he knows what he is talking about here.

It is going to be very interesting to see what business the Rams do in the summer.

After a shaky start, they have bounced back well and look to have found an identity under Phillip Cocu.
