With just a few weeks to go until the start of the new season, the Leeds United players are preparing for the new campaign out in Australia.

The players flew out to Australia at the weekend and have spent the last couple of days training without head coach Marcelo Bielsa, with the Argentine opting to remain in England to continue his planning for the new season.

The Leeds boss has still been keeping a close eye on things though, according to football journalist Neil Sherwin.

The Leeds players took part in an open training session today, ahead of tomorrow's clash with Manchester United and Sherwin claims that Bielsa watched the session while on his flight out to Australia for the game.

Leeds will take on Manchester United in Perth tomorrow, before another friendly match against Western Sydney Wanderers at the weekend, but it is thought that Bielsa may return to the UK after the United game.

The Verdict

This isn't at all surprising and is exactly the sort of thing we have come to expect from Bielsa. The Leeds head coach is known for his meticulous planning and attention to detail.

Even though he wasn't at the training session today, he will know exactly what's going on with his players and will be getting feedback from his coaching staff all the time.

It will be interesting to see if Bielsa decides to stay in Australia after the Manchester United game. He isn't a big fan of pre-season tours and may want to continue his planning for the new campaign back in the UK.
