David Moyes was one of West Brom's top targets to replace Darren Moore but is only interested if a better deal is tabled, according to The Sun's Alan Nixon.

The 55-year-old has been out of work since leaving West Ham at the end of last season, but it is understood the Baggies picked him out as a key candidate to lead their promotion charge.

However, it appears Moyes senses a more alluring job offer could be around the corner during the close-season.

Moyes would have been an interesting choice for the Baggies given he has not managed in the Championship since his four-year stint as Preston boss. However, Moyes did take the Lilywhites to the 2001 Championship play-off final after just one season in the second tier, but his ambitious side lost 3-0 to Bolton.

Sky Sports were reporting last week that West Brom have now turned their primary attention to Slavisa Jokanovic and Alex Neil, while caretaker boss James Shan is also in contention after leading the Baggies to back-to-back victories.

The Verdict

With the Baggies in search of a long-term fix, Moyes does not seem the obvious choice to provide that. The Scotsman would also have been a divisive choice in the Midlands following brief stints at Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham.

The Baggies need to get a move on making an appointment, though, with this international break the perfect time to bring the search to an end.
