Nottingham Forest are more interested on the outgoing transfer so far this summer, than they are in signing new players.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Aitor Karanka’s side were on the cusp of finalising some free transfers to the club, but now have turned their attention to selling.

Nixon tweeted: “Forest. Were due to be finalising a couple of FREES this week (not loans). Instead seem more involved with getting people out. Tick tock.”

The Tricky Trees finished the season in 17th place in the Championship table. Sat 12 points above the drop zone, relegation didn’t threaten the side, but being 22 points below the play-offs meant there was nothing to play for in the final weeks of the campaign.

Forest have been linked with a number of players this summer already, including Hull City captain Michael Dawson.

The Verdict

Nottingham Forest are in desperate need of an overhaul of players at the club. But, in a week where they seemed to be making progress in the transfer market, it seems to have ended rather disappointingly.

Aitor Karanka must sign some new talent for Forest if they are to compete at all next season and try and get out the rut they have found themselves in.

Alan Nixon’s tweet shines a light on the perhaps slightly unconventional way that Nottingham Forest have gone about their business so far. But despite the “tick tock” comment, there is still plenty of time for the Tricky Trees to finalise their summer transfer business.
