West Brom are set to lose Harvey Barnes in January, with parent club Leicester City keen on bringing the attacking midfielder back once the window opens.

That's the latest according to Press Association reporter Nick Mashiter, who revealed the news on twitter.

The 20-year-old joined the Baggies in the summer and has made a massive impact even in this short amount of time. Barnes has scored five goals in 12 games and has impressed with his overall ability.

He has been handed a chance as a number ten under Darren Moore and has flourished in the 3-4-1-2 formation adopted by the boss.

Such form hasn't gone unnoticed, with England U21s calling up the player for their upcoming games over the international break.

It's also clearly been recognised by Claude Puel and his staff who will have been monitoring his progress.

However, Mashiter does add that things could change in the coming months, stressing that this is how things stand at the minute.

Should he depart, it could see Albion make a move for former target Bradley Dack, who was the subject of some very big bids from West Brom before the summer deadline shut.

The Verdict

This will seriously concern Albion as Barnes has been a key player this season, playing in every game and weighing in with crucial goals.

But, that's the risk you take when you sign loan players and Leicester were smart to put the clause in.

Whether it would be beneficial for the player to leave the Hawthorns is debatable and Albion will surely be doing all they can to convince the Foxes he is best served staying with them until May.
