Leeds United are set to be dealt a transfer blow with the news that they could be priced out of a move for Bristol City winger, Callum O'Dowda.

Reputable journalist, Alan Nixon, revealed that Leeds wouldn't be willing to pay the hefty asking price that Bristol City are commanding from the league-leaders for the winger.

It had previously been reported by Sky Sports journalist, Tim Thornton, that Leeds were exploring a deal to bring O'Dowda to Elland Road, after they were also priced out of a move for Swansea midfielder, Daniel James.

O'Dowda has been in impressive for Lee Johnson's side this season, and already has two goals and three assists to his name, and he has been one of the standout performers for the Robins as they continue their rise up the Championship table.

It remains to be seen as to whether Leeds will step up their interest in the 23-year-old but they need to act quickly in filling the void left by Samuel Saiz who left the club for a move to Getafe on a season long loan deal.

The Whites need to add some depth to their attacking options if they are to mount a serious challenge for promotion this season, and many fans will be hoping that Andrea Radrizzani will pay the money needed to land any new signings.

The Verdict:

This is a frustrating blow for Leeds in the hopes to sign him.

They need to get the chequebook out on spend some money in this transfer window to fill the void left by Samuel Saiz.

O'Dowda would have been an excellent addition to the Leeds side, but they will have to look into finding other targets in this transfer window.
