It had recently been reported by The Sun that Leeds United were ready to table a £3m loan bid for Hull City's Jarrod Bowen in this month's transfer window.

It was also claimed that the deal would become a permanent transfer worth up to £15m if Leeds were to win promotion into the Premier League this season.

But the Yorkshire Evening Post's Graham Smyth has poured cold water over Leeds' reported interest in Bowen, claiming that he isn't a player they're pursuing at this moment in time.

Bowen has been in impressive form this season and already has 17 goals to his name for Hull in all competitions. It wouldn't come as a surprise to see the 23-year-old attracting interest in the coming months, as he's out of contract at the end of this year's campaign.

The Elland Road faithful will be keen to see Marcelo Bielsa add some much-needed depth to their squad, as they look to win promotion into the Premier League this term.

The Whites have recently had to deal with Eddie Nketiah returning to Arsenal from his loan spell with Leeds, and it seems as though they aren't much closer to finding his replacement.

Leeds are next in action on Saturday when they take on QPR at Loftus Road, in what is certain to be a tricky test for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

The Verdict:

I'm not surprised to hear that there isn't much truth in this rumour.

Bowen has been a key player for Hull City this season, and I found it hard to believe that they would even contemplate such an offer from Leeds.

Leeds need to look at serious transfer targets, and fast, otherwise their promotion bid could suffer a real hit, especially with injuries likely to occur in the second-half of this year's campaign.
