Wolves chairman Jeff Shi is absolutely focused on his side becoming a Premier League force, according to Express and Star journalist Tim Spiers.

Spiers spent some time talking to Shi recently and he states what comes across, over and above all else, is his 'calm determination and unstinting belief that Wolves will be a PL force in the long term'.

Wolves are in a good place at the moment, top of the Championship with a three-point lead over Cardiff City as they hunt their return to the top flight.

They've come under fire recently for owners Fosun International's links with so-called super agent Jorge Mendes. Whilst the debate rumbles on, Wolves vehemently deny any wrongdoing and have promised to comply with all FA investigations.

However, Spiers believes Shi is keen to provide an 'incessant focus on investment and growth' which will see the club into the top 20 teams in the country and hopefully ensure they stay there.

Jeff Shi is the Executive Chairman of Wolves,  responsible for Fosun Group to initiate and lead the investment into the club. He was previously based in China but has relocated to England to ensure he is working closely with the team and back room staff.

The Verdict

The rhetoric coming out of Wolves is all very positive and I'm sure if Tim Spiers had his doubts he'd voice them, being a respected journalist. He did conclude by saying that the future looked rosy if the promises are backed up by actions and that would echo my sentiment on the subject. If Shi and Fosun are good on their word, Wolves could be in for an exciting few years. If they're not, there are plenty of clubs in League One and Two that serve as a warning of what could await them.
