Izzy Brown is set to take another step towards a return to first-team action as he is expected to get an all-important 90 minutes under his belt on Monday for the Leeds under 23's.

Yorkshire Post journalist, Phil Hay, has revealed that the 21-year-old is set to feature for the Whites youth side this afternoon which will be pleasing news for Leeds supporters.

It looks like the meeting against Reading on Tuesday will come too soon for the Chelsea loanee, but he is being lined up to feature for Marcelo Bielsa's side against Sheffield United at the weekend.

Brown has been out of action for the majority of 2018 due to an ACL injury which has meant that he is yet to make an appearance for Leeds' first-team this season.

"After the 90 minutes on Monday I should be ready for selection," Brown revealed in a recent interview with Leeds Live.

The attacking-midfielder will be hoping to inspire a Leeds under 23's side that have suffered back-to-back defeats to Birmingham City and Crewe Alexandra in recent weeks.

But many Leeds fans will hope that he can fire his side back into the title-race with Norwich starting to pull away from the promotion chasing sides at the top of the Championship table.

The Verdict:

Brown's return to competitive action will be a huge boost to Leeds as they look to return to the Premier League after a lengthy spell out of the top flight.

It has come at the perfect time for Marcelo Bielsa who will need depth in his Leeds squad ahead of a hectic and potentially season-defining festive period.

Brown will add to the already impressive firepower Bielsa has at his disposal at Elland Road.

But the loanee would be confident of challenging the likes of Pablo Hernandez and Ezgjan Alioski for a starting spot in the Leeds XI.
