According to reliable journalist, Alan Nixon, Ryan Kent’s likely destination will be Middlesbrough this summer, if Garry Monk’s side fail in their attempts to sign Sheyi Ojo.

Boro have been monitoring the two Liverpool wingers this summer, with a view to handing one of them the opportunity to move to the Riverside Stadium during the 2017/18 campaign.

Monk is keen to sign Ojo, but faces stiff competition to sign the 20-year-old, with Newcastle United looking to hand him a Premier League opportunity.

Should Boro fail to sign Ojo, their attention will turn to Kent, according to Nixon.

Kent is preparing for his third loan spell away from Anfield this summer, with opportunities of first-team football with the Reds looking limited this season.

The 20-year-old winger impressed over the last two seasons, spending time in the Football League with Coventry City and Barnsley, in League One and the Sky Bet Championship respectively.

Last season, Kent made 44 appearances for Barnsley, missing just two of their 46 Championship fixtures, also scoring three goals during his time in South Yorkshire.

Boro are not the only team interested in signing Kent this summer, with a host of Championship clubs monitoring his situation, including Leeds United and Hull City.

The Verdict

A move to the Riverside Stadium would be ideal for Kent, who would be given yet another opportunity to impress Liverpool, but this time with a club who should be challenging for promotion.

Garry Monk will have been disappointed by Boro’s performance on the opening day of the Championship season, with his side failing to impress, losing 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Teessiders lined up with three natural strikers in their starting XI, but failed to create many goalscoring opportunities, with Boro looking in desperate need of some creativity.
