Local journalist Phil Hay, of the Yorkshire Evening Post, has confirmed via Twitter that Leeds United are not interested in Cameron Jerome.

Hay has dismissed these rumours and said that his sources have confirmed that Leeds will not be signing Jerome on a loan deal before the window closes at the end of the month.

Yesterday, Football Insider reported that Leeds were battling with Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers in an attempt to sign the 32-year-old on loan from Derby County.

Jerome is currently down the pecking order at Derby, with Frank Lampard preferring Martyn Waghorn, Jack Marriott and David Nugent up front.

This is despite the physical centre-forward netting five goals in the final five games of last season to help Derby reach the play-offs.

In his career, the former England under-21 international has played well over 500 games, scoring 130 goals in total.

His previous experience has come in the top two divisions with the likes of Cardiff City, Birmingham City, Stoke City and Norwich City.

The Verdict

Many Leeds fans seemed set against signing Jerome on loan, but I think this may have been a good back-up option - as long as he remained firmly third choice behind Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford.

Striker is not the priority, though, for Leeds and I'd advocate signing a centre-back on loan before the window closes.

Jerome needs to force a move elsewhere for the sake of his own career before this month comes to an end.
