Leeds United transfer targets Matej Vydra and Barry Douglas are edging closer to finalising their deals at Elland Road.

According to a tweet from Sun journalist Alan Nixon, both Douglas and Vydra are likely to complete deals to Leeds United by the end of the transfer window.

The tweet stated: “Douglas should be no problem. Vydra will need finalising because of size of deal. But hopeful.”

Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly accepted an offer of around £3m earlier this week, with the deal likely to go through without any issues, while Derby County look set to allow their, and the Championship’s top goal scorer from last season, to leave Pride Park this summer.

The Czech Republic international has been linked with various move away throughout the summer transfer window, but it looks like Marcelo Bielsa’s side will finalise a deal for the talisman.

Douglas played 43 times in Wolves’ title winning campaign, and would be giving up on a chance to play in England’s top tier of football.

The Verdict

If both deals were to go through, they could be the first and second best signings of the summer.

Douglas was a first choice, first class full back for a title winning Wolves side, while Vydra ended the campaign on 21 goals, and took home the Championship golden boot.

Marcelo Bielsa will have a very strong squad going into this coming season, and with new additions on the horizon, will have a great deal of expectation surrounding him and the club.
