Nottingham Forest will soon be looking for answers in their pursuit of transfer targets Jack Colback and Sam Byram, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

Responding to a question from a follower, Nixon confirmed that both players were still live targets, but that Forest do need answers, 'the sooner the better'.

Colback spent time on loan at Forest last season and has been widely tipped to join up with Karanka on a permanent basis in the off season.

He's struggled to assert himself on the Newcastle first team, but impressed alongside Ben Watson last season at Forest.

24-year old Sam Byram has been linked with a season-long loan move to the City Ground after his switch to West Ham also went sour.

Bryam, who plays right back or right wing, left Elland Road for Upton Park in 2016, but has made just 27 appearances during his stay with the Hammers.

Forest have been incredibly active in the transfer market this summer, breaking their club record by bring in Joao Carvalho from Benfica for £13.2m, as well as splashing £6m on Lewis Grabban.

The Verdict

With most of their summer business done, Forest can perhaps play the waiting game a little.

Colback is the one who could have a real impact for Forest, his partnership with Watson would provide a stable centre for the rest of the side to be built around.
