West Bromwich Albion winger Harvey Barnes will return to his parent club Leicester City after being recalled from his loan spell, reports John Percy of the Telegraph.

Barnes moved to the Hawthorns on a season-long loan back in the summer but after a thoroughly impressive opening half of the campaign, has been called back to the Foxes.

It now leaves Baggies' manager Darren Moore with a massive hole in his frontline that he will be keen to fill in as quickly as possible in the remainder of the January transfer window.

Barnes scored nine goals and assisted seven more during his 26 games with Moore's side, becoming a crucial member of a lethal attacking trio alongside Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez.

West Brom currently sit fourth in the Championship table on 46 points, three behind second-placed Norwich City and five behind league-leaders Leeds United.

This weekend sees them host the Canaries in what is set to be a crunch match at the top of the second-tier table.

The verdict

What a monumental blow this is to West Brom's chances of promotion.

With no fee being received for the loss it leaves them with the nearly impossible task of adequately replacing the winger in the remainder of the month.

He was the perfect fit for the Baggies and will leave a massive hole.
