The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hay has taken to his personal Twitter account to discuss Birmingham City’s form in the Sky Bet Championship, ahead of Leeds United’s trip to St Andrew’s on Saturday afternoon.

Birmingham find themselves in a relegation battle for a second consecutive season in the Championship, with Steve Cotterill’s side under huge pressure after a miserable run of results.

The YEP’s Chief Football Writer has taken to Twitter to reflect on the Blues’ form, with Hay questioning why Birmingham find themselves bottom of the Championship table, particularly with the impressive squad they have at their disposal at St Andrew’s.

Birmingham failed to move off the bottom of the Championship table following yesterday’s clash with Norwich City, as the Canaries picked up three points thanks to a 2-0 victory.

Things are not getting any easier for Cotterill, with his side now entertaining a resurgent Leeds side on Saturday, who are looking to strengthen their position in the race for promotion.

Leeds’ form is a stark contrast to Birmingham’s with Thomas Christiansen’s side putting a string of impressive results together over the last six weeks.

The Whites will enter Saturday’s contest in fifth following yesterday’s 2-1 victory over Burton Albion.

The Verdict

It is hard to judge what Birmingham’s problem is, with Cotterill having a pool of talented players at St Andrew’s, but results not looking like they are going to get better any time soon.

Birmingham will be wary ahead of Leeds’ visit, but the Whites will have their concerns, with Saturday’s clash potentially a banana skin for the play-off hopefuls.

The Blues have some real quality, and Cotterill could do with putting a run together like Leeds’.
