According to reliable journalist Joe Rawson, money will be a key factor in Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s move to England, as Leeds United and Aston Villa battle it out to sign the Hamburg man.

Leeds have been known admirers of Lasogga for some time now, and reports this morning have suggested that he is in talks with the Whites and Victor Orta over a move to Elland Road.

However, Leeds are not the only Sky Bet Championship club looking to sign Lasogga, with Aston Villa also showing an interest.

Rawson is expecting money to play the deciding factor in where Lasogga ends up playing his football next season, with his wage demands around £50k-a-week currently at Hamburg.

Leeds are looking to sign Lasogga but are aware they cannot meet the striker’s current wage demands, whilst Villa could undoubtedly offer the 25-year-old a more lucrative deal.

Lasogga is a former Germany under-21 international, who has spent his entire career playing in the German Bundesliga.

The striker has had spells with Bayer Leverkusen, Hertha Berlin and Hamburg, which have seen him score 34 Bundesliga goals, including 14 from 22 appearances during the 2013/14 campaign.

The Verdict

Leeds have been linked with Lasogga for a number of weeks now, and following the sale of Chris Wood last week, rumours have been circulating surrounding a move for the German forward.

However, the player’s wage has been an obstacle for Leeds so far this summer, which indicates a move to Villa could end up as more likely.

Of course, the player would get more game time at Elland Road, but with Villa paying some of the highest salaries in the Championship, they could pip their rivals to Lasogga’s signature.
