Nottingham Forest winger Gboly Ariyibi could be set to leave the Reds, with Chesterfield keen on bringing the player back on a loan deal.

Whilst the window has shut for all EFL sides, the non-league side are still able to make signings and the Nottingham Post are reporting that Ariyibi could make a move to Martin Allen's side.

Ariyibi is still yet to play for the Reds, since joining in January 2017 from the Spireites. The 23-year-old has since enjoyed loan spells with MK Dons and Northampton Town over the past few years.

Therefore, any deal would be a coup for the fifth-tier side and probably a good move for the player at this moment in time.

Here we look at THREE reasons why this is a move that makes sense...

Forest recruited massively this summer and many of the arrivals were attacking midfielders and wide players to add more creativity to the team.

Ariyibi is simply a long, long way away from the first-team and his chances of playing at the City Ground are virtually impossible.

Whilst training and learning from these players could be ideal for some youngsters looking to progress, the 23-year-old needs to be playing now.

He has had a taste of first-team football over the years and needs to get more game time to continue his development.

Ariyibi is at an important stage of his career and even playing non-league is better than U23 football.

Finally, the player will be joining a club he knows very well.

Ariyibi spent three seasons at Chesterfield, playing just under 100 games in all competitions so knows the club.

That should ensure he feels comfortable after the move and could be the right environement for him to flourish in.
