Angus Gunn is the main target for Leeds, according to Lee Sobot.

Leeds are aiming to bolster the squad after a disappointing season where they finished in 13th place. The goalkeeping position is one of the areas that is being targeted for improvement.

Felix Wiedwald proved to be a disappointment with Bailey Peacock-Farrell taking his place after Andy Lonergan picked up an injury. However, the club don't appear to trust Peacock-Farrell with such a big responsibility early in his career, so another goalkeeper is likely to be brought in.

Gunn spent last season on loan at Norwich City from Manchester City where he didn't miss a league game all season and kept out the talented Michael McGovern; he is a promising young goalkeeper at 22-years-old, but stands little chance of making the Manchester City first-team.

The Verdict

Gunn would be an excellent short-term solution if the club wanted to mount a promotion push. However, this would stifle Peacock-Farrell's development unless he was sent on loan, which wouldn't be ideal.

They are likely to get rid of Wiedwald and Lonergan is injury-prone as well as having only one year left on his contract. Therefore, this seems like the ideal time to promote Peacock-Farrell by giving him additional responsibility. Bringing in Gunn only delays that while forcing them to pay high wages for a loanee.

The club are desperate to achieve promotion back up to the Premier League after a long absence, but that short-term approach could come at the cost of some talented prospects at the club.
