The summer transfer window was a hectic one, with a number of EFL clubs getting deals in place as they looked to strengthen their squads for the 2020/21 season.

One player that didn't move anywhere though was Bournemouth forward Josh King, with the Norwegian international remaining with the Cherries, despite them being relegated into the Championship last term.

King was attracting interest from a number of clubs including the likes of Manchester United and West Ham, although for one reason or another, the move failed to materialise.

Speaking in a recent pre-match press conference, Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall issued a promising update on King, who is now keen to prove himself back in the Cherries team this term whilst they're in the Championship.

"Josh trained with the squad yesterday, he trained well, he will train with the squad again today and we’ll assess if he’ll be involved.

"We had a good chat yesterday, he’s itching to show what a good player he is and to score goals in the Championship."

Bournemouth are next in action on Wednesday evening, when they take on Cardiff City, in what is likely to be a tricky test for the Cherries.

The Verdict:

It'll be interesting to see how he does in the Championship.

King has already shown in the past that he's more than capable of performing to a high standard in the Premier League, and I was surprised to see that a move never materialised in the summer transfer window.

But it's good to hear that King is committed to the cause with Bournemouth now, and I think he'll be a key player for them as they look to win promotion back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.

If he can get back to his best, then surely the Cherries will be in with a serious chance of winning promotion under Tindall's management this term.
