Brentford midfielder Josh Dasilva has thanked teammate Said Benrahma following their 7-0 win over Luton Town in the Championship on Saturday.

Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring for the Bees, with Ollie Watkins and Mathias Jensen adding the 2nd and 3rd of the evening respectively. Dasilva then scored twice before half-time to give Thomas Frank's side a 5-0 lead at the break.

Benrahma converted from the spot midway through the second-half and with fives minutes remaining, had the ball in his hands to take another penalty awarded to Brentford.

The Algerian though handed the duties to Dasilva, who completed his first career hat-trick with it.

The 21-year-old took to Instagram yesterday, thanking his teammate for his generosity:

It was Brentford's sixth win in their last eight Championship games and boosts them to 7th in the table - just one point behind Preston in 6th.

The clean sheet was also Brentford's 7th of the season and their third in their last four league games.

The verdict

Brentford and Frank started the season in some pretty dreadful form and looked set for a long season in the Championship.

But a couple of months and several wins later, Brentford and Frank seem like a match made in heaven. The Dane has his side playing some of the most effective, attractive football in the league and has quickly closed down on the play-offs.

They next travel to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday - the Bees have won three of the last five against the Owls, and a win should see them into the top-six.
