Blackpool manager Jose Riga could be set to leave the club with a decision expected to be made today, according to the Blackpool Gazette

The relationship between Jose Riga and Karl Oyston has been strained throughout his Blackpool tenure, although the Blackpool Gazette believes it is now beyond the point of repair

Riga is having talks with Chairman Karl Oyston this morning, which could end up with Riga being sacked. The pairs' relationship is believed to have broken down to a point of no repair.

Blackpool sit bottom of the Championship, five points off the nearest side Birmingham, after losing 3-0 at Reading on Saturday, with goals from Glenn Murray, Nick Blackman and a Peter Clarke own goal condemning the Tangerines to their tenth League defeat of the season.

Riga supposedly had another request for new additions turned down during the week, with the Belgian telling the Blackpool Gazette after the match: “I was very disappointed, I didn’t recognise my team. Normally we compete in all our games, have good moments and are solid.

“But on Saturday we were nowhere, we were more like spectators, it was a big disappointment to me.

“We knew in the situation Reading were in that they would react and hoped we could frustrate them, but we weren’t able.

“We can speak about the missing players, that has some impact. But just thinking about the ones on the pitch it wasn’t good enough, we didn’t do the basics.

“We know that in our situation we have to do much more as a team to get anything from games.

“If you do less, we will be punished and that’s what happened on Saturday.”
