Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay was delighted with the contribution of Cameron Dawson as his penalty save helped the Owls to a point in the Steel City derby.
Jos Luhukay's men went to Sheffield United as big outsiders having lost four games in a row, however they managed to pick up a point with a resolute showing.
In truth, the Blades were by far the better side in terms of territory and chances, but Dawson's big moment against David McGoldrick kept the visitors level and the hosts threat gradually reduced.
And, Luhukay told the Sheffield Star he was pleased that the keeper, who is a Wednesday fan, managed to silence his critics with a big display.
"We must thank Cammy that he stopped a penalty. He was very important at the beginning of the game. I said in the press conference before the game that he is a very, very talented young goalkeeper and I do not understand any criticism he has had.
"He's a very young goalkeeper but he has done a fantastic job. He has helped the team a lot in the last few months. We must support him."
The Verdict
This was a massive night for Dawson who deserves a lot of credit for his performance, that ultimately won his side a valuable point.
As well as that, Luhukay warrants praise as his decision to go with the 23-year-old has been heavily criticised but he came out yesterday again to back the keeper and was rewarded.
Overall, there are clear areas of improvements for the Owls but it was a good point and something for the side to build on.
