Sheffield Wednesday boss Jos Luhukay has told his players that they must not let their standards drop after an impressive run of form.

The Owls have come through a very tough run of fixtures in good shape, with the Yorkshire side currently occupying the final play-off spot.

That stems from a four-game unbeaten run, which includes avoiding defeat against West Brom and Leeds, along with victories at Bristol City and Aston Villa.

Even though Middlesbrough are up next, Wednesday play many sides below them after that but Luhukay told the Sheffield Star that every game is difficult.

"We have played some of the top teams in the league in Leeds United, WBA and Stoke. We have had a very hard, intensive period. We have not played teams below us."

"The team is balanced. We have good stability but we must keep working. Every game is a new challenge."

Wednesday's start to the season has been all the more impressive when you consider Luhukay was restricted in the summer market and has been bringing through many young players this season.

The Verdict

This is a good message from Luhukay although you can't imagine he will let the players get ahead of themselves anyway.

The team should take a lot of confidence from how they've played against the better sides this season and they can take that into the upcoming games.

For now though, it's about concentrating on Middlesbrough and extending the unbeaten run if possible.
