Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay insists that he is not panicking despite the Owls desperate Championship form.

The Yorkshire club have registered just one league win since Boxing Day and just four wins from their last 23 games.

It highlights the struggles that are ongoing for the injury-hit club, with some supporters nervously looking over their shoulder.

Wednesday have a seven-point lead over Birmingham who occupy the final relegation place and even though it’s a healthy advantage, Luhukay’s men are in danger of getting sucked into a battle.

However, the former Gladbach boss is pleased with how his side are playing and isn’t expecting a relegation scrap.

I’m not concerned. We have played very well against Aston Villa, Derby and Cardiff. They are three clubs that are playing for promotion to the Premier League but we performed well at home,” he told the Sheffield Star.

I’m not afraid of our situation in the league. We must handle that and we will try to play well on Saturday.”

The Owls face a tough test this weekend as they travel to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City.

The Verdict

Despite what Luhukay says, the Owls need to be concerned about their position.

Seven points is a lot but Wednesday have no momentum and once you’re dragged into a battle the pressure can change things significantly.

The boss may think sending a positive message is the right thing to do but it’s pretty clear if results don't change quickly then Wednesday could be in for a nervy end to the season.
