Sheffield Wednesday boss Jos Luhukay insists that sacking managers does not solve problems for a football club as he battles for his own future.

The Owls manager is under increasing pressure at Hillsborough from supporters after a very poor season so far, which has seen the side struggling towards the relegation zone.

Many manager's up and down the country knows that they are potentially only a few defeats away from the sack, with Paul Clement losing his job at Reading in the past week.

And, Luhukay used the example of the Royals to show how making big changes doesn't actually bring results after they replaced Jaap Stam with Clement but didn't improve.

"You can change a manager, but you’ll still have the same problems," he told journalist Andy Giddings.

Yet, that can be taken as a clear message to those criticising at Wednesday that things may not get better should Luhukay leave.

Wednesday are back in action tomorrow as they take on fellow strugglers Rotherham in what is a huge game for both Yorkshire sides.

The Verdict

On one hand, Luhukay has a point. The manager will always pay the price even when they may not be the main problem at the club.

However, Wednesday fans will feel that Luhukay is implying this is the case at Hillsborough and when he should really be looking at himself as the team are not performing well enough.

Ultimately, results will decide Luhukay's future and if things don't pick up very soon you wouldn't be surprised to see him go.
