Jos Luhukay extended his unbeaten run as Sheffield Wednesday manager to four games, as his side beat Reading 3-1 to secure a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
A brace from Atdhe Nuhiu and a goal from George Boyd put the Owls in a commanding position before a late own goal pulled one back for Reading.
Nevertheless, it was a good win for the Yorkshire club and the new boss told the Sheffield Star he was pleased with how clinical his side were.
“We are happy to be in the next round of the cup. It was a very hard game over 90 minutes. Reading had chances to score the first goal but we were highly effective with our chances. We scored goals in the right moments.”
Excitement will now build ahead of the draw for the next round and Luhukay revealed that another tie at Hillsborough is all he can ask for.
“I hope that we have a home game (in the next round) with our fans behind us.”
Sheffield Wednesday fans will be pleased with how Luhukay has settled to life at the club and there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
The scoreline last night could’ve been different as Reading missed chances at key times but with the injuries that the Owls have, the fringe players deserve huge credit for their performance.
With very little to play for in the Championship a good cup draw could bring some excitement back to the club and give fans something to look forward to.
