Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay has praised his summer loan recruits ahead of the Owls' return to Championship football on Saturday, report the Sheffield Star

Michael Hector and Josh Onomah both arrived in the summer and have become crucial members of the club's first team squad over the last few weeks.

"Both bring their own quality to the team and we have seen that in the last few games," Luhukay said.

"Michael was very strong against West Brom but he topped that performance for me at Bristol City.

"I'm very happy with him and Josh."

The pair both shone during the Owls impressive 2-1 win against Bristol City at Ashton Gate before the international break.

Hector was a rock at the back whilst Onomah's energy in midfield was an important factor, providing an assist for Lucas Joao's second of the game.

The win saw the Owls climb into the playoff places for the first time this season and leaves them with just one loss in their last nine matches of the season.

The verdict

Sheffield Wednesday's transfer business seemed very underwhelming at the time, but as the season goes on we are beginning to see how well Luhukay actually played things.

It was easy to forget how decent a squad they actually had with injuries to the likes of Sam Winnall and Almen Abdi but with those players returning soon, things are shaping up nicely for the Owls.

The additions of Onomah and Hector were understated but very well calculated for what the club actually needed and Luhukay deserves praise for that.
