Sheffield Wednesday suffered yet another injury blow last night after defender Jack Hunt was forced off in the first-half of their 2-0 defeat to Swansea in the FA Cup.

The right-back lasted 38 minutes before being replaced by Liam Palmer after a hamstring complaint.

It adds to the Owls ridiculous injury list that prevented 11 first-team players from making the journey to Wales last night.

Manager Jos Luhukay offered an update on Hunt’s situation and said he will have to be assessed by the medical team.

I think it’s not so dangerous but we must wait of course for the next days [to see] how it is with Jack,” he told the Sheffield Star.

That was Hunt’s fifth game in 15 days and Luhukay believes that could’ve played a part in his injury. “Jack has played a lot of games recently and maybe it is a reaction from all the games he has played.”

The news comes after it was also revealed that Ross Wallace would miss the remainder of the season after he required knee surgery.

The Verdict

Everyone at Sheffield Wednesday will not be able to believe the amount of bad luck they’ve had with injuries this season and it’s not easing.

Whilst Liam Palmer is an able stand-in for Hunt, it’s far from ideal to be missing another senior player at this stage of the season.

Hopefully for the club and the player the news in the coming days is positive and he won’t be out for too long.
