Jos Luhukay has proven this season that a big summer in the transfer market isn't all you need to consolidate as a Championship side.

Despite struggling to recruit players and losing some key stars, his Owls side have established themselves in the play off chase going into the second international break.

They are currently sixth, five points shy of the automatic promotion spots, despite operating on largely the same squad as last season.

Despite the good start, he's keen to ensure his side don't become complacent once action resumes this coming weekend.

"We have had a very hard, intensive period," he told the Sheffield Star, "We have not played teams below us. The team is balanced. We have good stability but we must keep working. Every game is a new challenge."

His side have played against Stoke, Aston Villa, Leeds and West Brom, but face a tough tie with Middlesbrough this weekend and Luhukay revealed the method by which they will remain successful.

"We want to find a good level of organisation. We were organised and disciplined against Bristol City but not in the last consistency of defending. There were too many crosses that came in from the sides into our box."

Following the tie with Boro on Friday night, the Owls face QPR and Birmingham City in their quest to remain in the play off hunt.

The Verdict

Luhukay had many questioning his credentials in the summer, me included, but his recent form as manager has been impressive.

His talents as an organiser and motivator are shining through and his belief in the younger players has been reaping rewards also.
