Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay remained philosophical after his side slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest last night.

The Dutch manager has overseen a remarkable start to the Owls' season, considering their woes in the summer. His patched up side had moved to within a whisker of the top six, but defeat at the hands of Forest sees them fall to 13th, although still just two points outside the play off places.

The game was much more one-sided than the score line suggested, a late Steven Fletcher goal gave it a respectable edge that perhaps it did not deserve. Luhukay certainly felt his side were well beaten, but he was honest in his post-match assessment.

"There is always a new moment to learn from,” he told the Yorkshire Post. “After games you see what is good and what is not good - today it was not good."

He reflected on far better performances he's seen from his side recently, but admitted that the right side won the game.

“In our previous games we had been better. But today we did not deserve either one point or three. It was very disappointing. Nottingham deserved to win."

They now face a torrid ten days, with an away trip to Aston Villa before Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United and Darren Moore's West Brom visit Hillsborough.

The Verdict

Luhukay has done a superb job so far this season, galvanising a depleted squad to a decent run of form, but he's entering some choppy waters now. The next three games are incredibly tough and they'll need to be much better if they're to take anything from those matches.

Given the early season form though, there's every chance he can dust his side down for the challenge.
