Norwich City moved up to 11th in the Championship table at the weekend, as they edged past Rotherham United. at the New York Stadium.

The Canaries fell behind with Freddie Ladapo opening the scoring after just three minutes, but Michael Ihiekwe turned the ball into his own net with 22 minutes remaining of the match.

Angus MacDonald was shown a straight red card for a dangerous challenge on Spurs loanee Oliver Skipp, before Jordan Hugill netted a dramatic late penalty to see Daniel Farke's side pick up an important three points to stay in touch with the early pace-setters in the second-tier.

The winner was Hugill's first goal for the club, after moving from West Ham United during the summer transfer window.

Speaking in a post-match press conference (quotes sourced from Eastern Daily Press), Hugill admitted that he is keen to push on this season, and revealed that he has fallen in love with Norwich, which is a statement that will be well-received by the Carrow Road faithful.

"I think it’s been settled from the start, to be honest. I think everyone that has been here has been working for the team, regardless of what’s been going on behind the scenes, that’s all gone now and we can only push with what we’ve got.

"I think what we’ve got is a very good team and, more importantly, a very good team spirit.

"I’m loving it, since the day I walked in the door, from top to bottom, I’ve absolutely loved it. I’ve fallen in love with Norwich."

Norwich are set to return to action on Tuesday evening, when they take on Birmingham City at Carrow Road, in what could potentially be a tricky test up against the Blues.

The Verdict:

It's good to hear that he's settled in well with his Norwich team-mates.

For any new signing, you're going to want to hit the ground running, and Hugill has certainly done that with Daniel Farke's side, as they target promotion back into the Championship.

They rode their luck against Rotherham United on Saturday, but will be pleased to pick up a crucial three points, which keeps them in touch with the promotion-chasing pack in the second-tier.

If the Canaries can provide Hugill with the service he needs in front of goal, then I expect Norwich to be mounting a serious challenge for promotion this term.
