Jonny Williams reflects on Charlton Athletic’s 2-0 defeat at Wigan

Charlton Athletic ace Jonny Williams has posted an update on social media, following the 2-0 defeat at Wigan Athletic.

The 25-year-old has been an important player for Charlton so far this season and has featured in every game in the Championship so far.

The attacking midfielder endured a disappointing afternoon on Saturday, as the Addicks suffered their second defeat of the season at the DW Stadium, thanks to a double from defender Chey Dunkley.

Williams took to social media on Sunday afternoon to reflect on the result and posted an update on his personal Instagram account, describing it as another frustrating day, but thanking the travelling Charlton fans for their support.

Charlton were promoted from League One last season and have made a very encouraging start to their new campaign, winning four of their opening six league matches, although they have now lost their last two games without scoring a goal.

Lee Bowyer’s side will be hoping to bounce back with a positive result in their next game when they welcome top-of-the-table Leeds United to The Valley.

The Verdict

Williams didn’t have a great game against Wigan, but the same thing can be said about a few of the Charlton players and his other performances in the Championship so far this season have been encouraging.

It was a frustrating afternoon for Charlton against Wigan and another disappointing result, but it shouldn’t take away from the fact that they’ve made a fantastic start to the new season.

It’s now up to the players to make sure that they respond in the right way after back-to-back defeats, although they face a very tough game against top-of-the-table Leeds in their next match.
