After a summer of uncertainty Swindon Town have made an excellent start to the 2021/22 campaign under Ben Garner.

Tyreece Simpson has taken some of the headlines on loan from Ipswich Town but it has been a joint effort with the players and staff showing a great togetherness through adversity to reside in fifth place after ten outings.

Garner has been able to name a fairly consistent starting XI in the last month or so and therefore picking a best side from what we have seen so far this season was quite straightforward.

Jonny Williams with his wavering fitness presented the largest dilemma but in the end we could not leave the Wales international out.

Here, then, we have put together our best Swindon Town starting XI from what we have seen so far in 2021/22...

Williams is also capable in central midfield, particularly with the security of a trio, but in that Alex Gilbert misses out. The 19-year-old is able to play in a front two where the Welshman is less experienced but giving Williams more freedom playing just off of Simpson would cause problems for any League Two backline.

Williams' presence also allows the midfield three further scope to rotate with Ben Gladwin and Jack Payne dangerous going forward, Gladwin has notched twice this season with Payne finding the net four times.

There is an excellent understanding between the Robins' back three which means Garner has been reluctant to change in that area of the pitch with Joe Wollacott looking like one of the best shot stoppers at the level.

Swindon are well placed for a surprise play-off push this term and we believe this starting XI has the ability to sustain that.
