Jonathan Woodgate says that he's confident that the positive feeling in the Middlesbrough squad will see them out of their current troubles.

The Teessiders are sitting in the Championship relegation zone after picking up just 13 points from their 16 games so far.

That run includes the current winless run which stretches to a staggering nine games.

Middlesbrough face a pivotal few weeks going into the Christmas period as they look to get some valuable points on the board to take them out of trouble, and Woodgate says that the teams' performances haven't been representative of a team on a nine-game winless run.

Speaking to the Hartlepool Mail, Woodgate said: “If you’ve watched the last few games we’ve been good and should have won a couple of them.
“We haven’t and it’s something to build on and we’ve got positive players in that dressing room.
"There’s a lot of good characters in that dressing room who really want to do well. It’s a good group.

“For the situation we’re in, there’s no negativity.
“Everyone’s positive and on the same song sheet, and at times, you need that.
“You don’t want any negativity bringing you down, but all those players in there are really positive. That’s so important for me.” The verdict The next few weeks are certainly crucial for Middlesbrough. With fixtures coming thick and fast over the next two months, Jonathan Woodgate's side will be hoping to use that hectic schedule to get some quickfire points on the board. In order to do that the Teessiders will need to be confident of getting results, and that's where the experienced nature of some of their players will be key.
