Blackburn Rovers have a new boss in the form of Jon Dahl Tomasson and he's said that he's planning on promoting from within where he can to supplement the squad.

The men from Ewood Park will be hoping that the managerial change is going to pave the way for them to challenge up at the sharp end next year and finally win promotion to the Premier League, with the last couple of seasons under Tony Mowbray seeing them in contention before falling away and out of the play-off places.

Blackburn have some good players, too, but Tomasson admits that he is looking to strengthen all the time and he will promote from within if the chance presents itself:

The Verdict

Fans always like to see their clubs challenging for honours and if they can do it with a crop of homegrown players then even better.

Blackburn have produced some fine footballers over the years and it seems as though Tomasson is eager to try and carry on that tradition.

That will win him some plaudits from the supporters but ultimately it's results that matter most of all and he will be well aware of that as well.
