Jon Dadi Bodvarsson has taken to Twitter to share a message after sealing a permanent move to Bolton Wanderers from Millwall

As confirmed by the Trotters' official website yesterday, the forward has put pen to paper on an 18-month deal at the club.

Bodvarsson has inherited the number nine shirt which was vacated by Eoin Doyle earlier this month when the forward opted to call time on his stint with Bolton in order to secure a move to St Patrick's Athletic.

After featuring on 38 occasions for Millwall in the Championship last season, the Iceland international would have been hoping to help the club reach new heights in this division by playing regularly during the current campaign.

However, due to the presence of Tom Bradshaw, Matt Smith and Benik Afobe, Bodvarsson failed to make an appearance in the second-tier earlier this season as he fell out of favour with manager Gary Rowett.

Having secured a switch to Bolton, it will be intriguing to see whether the forward is handed his debut during this weekend's clash with Shrewsbury Town.

Making reference to his move on Twitter, Bodvarsson has admitted that he can't wait to get started at Bolton.

The forward posted: "Delighted to have signed with Bolton Wanderers.

"Massive club that I'm proud to be a part of.

"Can't wait to get started."

The Verdict

Whilst Bodvarsson only managed to score seven goals in 76 appearances for Millwall, he may benefit from dropping down a division to play for Bolton.

No longer able to call upon the services of Doyle, the Trotters will be hoping that Bodvarsson will be able to provide adequate competition for Dion Charles who recently joined the club from Accrington Stanley.

Given that the Trotters are only five points clear of the relegation zone in League One, they will need this aforementioned duo to deliver the goods on a consistent basis if they are to avoid being dragged into a fight for survival.

Providing that Bodvarsson is able to make a positive impact for Bolton, he is likely to become an instant hit with their supporters who will be desperate to see their side achieve a relative amount of success during the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.
