Jose Gomes took over from Reading in the December of last year, and did an excellent job in keeping the Royals in the division.

The Portuguese boss was loved in Berkshire last season, and it even led to the supporters putting on a Portugal day for the manager.

However, this season it hasn't quite worked out for the boss and he'll be hoping that reports emerging that he's set to be sacked are false.

He took over from former Royals manager, Paul Clement, who was getting low attendances and playing poor football as Reading look destined for the drop.

Gomes was able to lift the spirits of the team and was excellent at the back end of last season, yet after 11 games in this current term, the Royals find themselves sat deep in trouble as they sit in the relegation zone.

When he was first announced as manager, Royals supporters across social media were very skeptical of the decision, with many stating that they hadn't heard of the manager.

Comments such as 'huge mistake' and 'give it three months until he's sacked' sums up the majority of fans' opinions to the Portuguese manager taking over. If you'd have asked them at the end of last season how they felt, they'd probably say that they couldn't be more wrong.

However, after the start to this current campaign, there has been some doubts that have started to creep in the at the club but many Reading fans didn't expect him to be under this much pressure from the owners and the board.

It's fair to say that the Reading fans were very upset when Gomes took over at the club but there was a big improvement in performances and in terms of the current mood around the club.

It'll be interesting to see how they react if he's to depart, whether the same set of supporters will be happy or sad.
