Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has spoke of the importance of 'hitting the ground running' when his side face Luton Town in the Championship tomorrow.

Lee Johnson’s Robins side travel to Kenilworth Road tomorrow to face Luton Town, as the Championship returns to action following the international break.

His side occupy the final play-off spot having not lost a league game since the opening day of the season.

A 1-0 win at Reading last time out was enough to secure 6th-place in time for the break, and Johnson is expecting a tough game against Graeme Jones’ Luton Town tomorrow.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Johnson said:

“It’s good to be back, and to see the internationals back - you do find that you miss them!

“But it’s important that we hit the ground running. It’s a big game at Kenilworth Road, with a tough side in Luton who have an excellent home record and we’ll be going there to try impose ourselves and win the game.”

Johnson has visited Kenilworth Road several times in the past, as a youth player with both Arsenal and Watford.

“You really get that feeling of the fans on top of you,” Johnson said. “They are in and around and close to the pitch. It’s very different to the modern stadiums you see in the Championship at the moment but it’s always a great atmosphere.”

After 11 games of the season, Luton sit in 18th-place of the Championship with one win coming in the last five.

They’ll be hoping that the home advantage will give them the edge over Johnson’s side tomorrow - they’ve picked up five points from five home games this season.

The verdict

Bristol City have looked solid so far this, having recruited well in the summer and looking ever-reliable under the steady-head of Johnson.

Luton will be no pushovers though. Jones' team are hard to beat and the Kenilworth Road faithful will be out in full-force tomorrow to try and help their team to an unexpected win.
