Aston Villa assistant manager John Terry has shared footage from the team’s celebrations in the dressing room, after the dramatic penalty shootout victory over West Brom last night.
Villa reached the Championship play-off final for the second successive season, after a dramatic victory on penalties at the Hawthorns, following a 1-0 defeat to their rivals on the night.
Jed Steer was the hero for Villa in the shootout, making two important saves, before Tammy Abraham scored the winning penalty, sending the away fans into raptures.
Terry posted this video on his personal Instagram account, showing the passionate celebrations from inside the Villa dressing room after the game.
Villa will now face either Leeds United or Derby County in the Championship play-off final at Wembley later this month, with the second leg of the other semi-final taking place tonight at Elland Road.
Terry was part of the Villa team that reached the Championship play-off final last season and played his final professional game in the 1-0 defeat to Fulham at Wembley.
There seems to be no stopping Villa at the moment and it’s great to see the passionate celebrations from the players, after a thrilling game at the Hawthorns.
Terry suffered play-off heartache with Villa as a player last season and will be determined to make sure the club can win promotion this time around, in his first season as assistant manager.
Villa will face a tough game against either Leeds or Derby in the final, but after the way the team have performed over recent weeks, fans have every reason to be confident of their side’s chances of promotion.
