Aston Villa assistant John Terry has shared an incredible throwback to his Chelsea days, with the former Stamford Bridge defender alongside Tammy Abraham.

Terry linked up with Villa as a player last season for 12 months, before returning as a coach with Dean Smith back in October, but he still holds Chelsea close to his heart.

And, on his Instagram story today he’s shared a throwback of himself, Dominic Solanke and Abraham, who he is currently working with at Villa Park:

Abraham is currently on loan at Villa from Chelsea, with Smith and Terry nurturing the talent of the 21-year-old striker.

So far this season Abraham has scored 20 goals in the Championship in only 27 appearances.

However, the striker is without a goal in his last two, with Villa suffering back-to-back defeats against Brentford and West Bromwich Albion.

Currently, Terry and Abraham will be preparing for tomorrow’s clash with Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium.

A miserable run of form has left Villa’s play-off chance in doubt, with Smith’s side facing an uphill battle if they’re to make the top-six after winning just twice since early December.

The Verdict

Terry and Abraham go way back due to the pair’s Chelsea connections.

You’ve got to imagine that Terry, who was so successful at Chelsea, is someone that Abraham looks up to, even though they played completely different roles.

That type of relationship is only going to blossom at Villa Park, as Terry takes his first steps into coaching.
