Aston Villa boss Dean Smith was named the Championship’s manager of the month for March on Friday and his assistant John Terry was quick to praise him on Instagram.
Underneath his post, however, Terry received a hilariously blunt comment from Derby County assistant manager and his former Chelsea coach Jody Morris. A presumably tongue in cheek response to their promotion rival’s top form.
His reply simply read: “Flying ya B*****ds.”
Villa won all five of their matches throughout March, scoring 13 goals and firing themselves up into fifth place with a spot in the top-six now looking very likely.
It is a run of form that has continued into April too with wins against Sheffield Wednesday last weekend and Rotherham United in midweek extending the 100% record to seven matches.
Next up for Smith’s side is a clash with fellow play-off hopefuls Bristol City at Villa Park in what is sure to be an enthralling encounter.
It is refreshing in a way to see comments like this from Morris.
Fans, coaches and players are probably all guilty of taking this stage of the season too seriously so for Morris to dish out what is clearly meant to be a bit of joke is great to see.
He will, of course, be taking Derby’s promotion run-in seriously but that does not mean he shouldn’t be allowed to have a laugh as well.
