Watford snatched all three points at the death in a thrilling 2-1 win over Leicester City at Vicarage Road on Sunday afternoon.
The Hornets opened the scoring through Troy Deeney, before Jamie Vardy equalised with a clinical finish in the second-half.
It looked like the points were going to be shared between the two sides before Troy Deeney sent Andre Gray clean through on goal, with the striker firing past Kasper Schmeichel to seal a vital win.
Aston Villa’s assistant coach, John Terry was full of praise for Deeney in particular, who stood out with an impressive showing against Brendan Rodgers’ side on the day.
Terry took to Instagram to praise the 30-year-old’s performance.
Deeney has been hugely impressive for Watford this season, and has certainly played his part in their excellent start to the season.
He has eight goals and four assists in the league so far, and will be crucial for Javi Gracia’s side for the remainder of this year’s campaign.
The Hornets are currently sat 8th in the Premier League table and have been one of the surprise packages in the top flight this season.
Deeney’s influence on the Watford team is huge both on and off the pitch, and Gracia will be hoping that his star striker can keep up his impressive run of form heading towards the tail end of the season.
They take on league-leaders Manchester City next weekend though, in what will be their toughest game of the season by some distance.
His hard-work often goes unnoticed.
The assist that he provided for Gray on Sunday was fantastic and I’m glad to see Terry acknowledging his influence on this Watford team.
He’s a crucial player to the success of this team.
