John Ruddy issues message on Rafa Mir that will please Wolves fans

Keeper John Ruddy has revealed that he is very impressed with how Rafa Mir has begun life as a Wolves player.

The 20-year old arrived from Valencia at the start of the month for a fee believed to be around £1.8m after Wolves saw off competition from Real Madrid for the striker.

Mir made his debut as a late substitute in the goalless draw against Swansea in the FA Cup and went close with a fine header.

He followed that up with another impressive cameo against Barnsley on Saturday and looks set to start for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side against the Swans in the replay tomorrow.

And, speaking to the Express & Star, Ruddy admitted that Mir’s impact has pleased his teammates.

He’s been good, it’s obviously difficult for a young lad coming over to England and experience a different culture and language. He’s adapted really well, again much like the rest of the lads who joined in the summer.”

He’s been warmly welcomed and taken into the fold in the dressing room. I thought he made a really good contribution on Saturday when he came on.”

The Verdict

Even though he has been restricted to two sub appearances, Mir has shown glimpses of what he can offer in that limited time.

He looks a powerful striker and has shown good movement to get in good positions when he has been on the pitch.

Clearly, as Ruddy says, his teammates are glad to have Mir in the ranks and he will hope to make a big impression in the coming months.
