Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton has reacted on social media, after being named the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month for September.

Barton guided Fleetwood to ten points from their four league matches in September, helping the Cod Army continue their promising start to their campaign in the third tier.

After taking charge at the club last year, Barton was able to guide Fleetwood to a top-half finish the League One last season, but the club have made a very encouraging start to their new campaign and are currently third in the table.

Barton has been named manager of the month for the first time in his career and the Fleetwood boss has now taken to social media to react to winning the award.

With a message on his personal Twitter feed, Barton insisted that it was a team effort and thanked everyone connected with Fleetwood for their role in helping him win the award.

Fleetwood are currently third in the League One table, just three points outside the automatic promotion places and will be hoping to continue their momentum by picking up another win against Burton Albion after the international break.

The Verdict

Barton has done a great job at Fleetwood so far this season and it's fair to say that he deserved the award.

He's done a great job of building on what he was able to achieve at the club last season and has really been able to get the best out of the players.

It's still early days yet and there are quite a few teams in League One who have got off to a decent start, but if Fleetwood can continue their good form, there's no reason why they can't challenge for the top six this season.
