Joey Barton has admitted that his attacking options are limited ahead of his side’s game against Oldham this evening.
His Bristol Rovers side have only scored one goal so far this season which was scored by defender Cian Harries but the boss says “we’ve got to score goals.”
Barton admitted to BristolLive, “We’ve got no real options on the frontline.”
He explained, “We’re waiting for Brett Pitman to return to fitness. Aaron Collins got some minutes on Saturday but short of being able to give a great account of himself and Harvey Saunders has been ploughing a lone furrow up there.”
The questions over striker Brandon Hanlan’s future has only added to Barton’s woes. Discussing the topic the boss remarked, “We’ve got a difficult situation. He’s aware of his interest, as all players are. We’re not naive enough to think people don’t make contact.
“You need everyone available and at the minute, but you’ll have to ask Bran. Through injury or choice he’s not available and he wants to go and play for Lincoln.”
The Bristol Rovers boss has a tough time ahead in terms of his attacking options. His side sit 23rd in the table and they will be keen to pick up some points starting tonight against Oldham who sit one place above them.
The question marks over Hanlan’s desire to play are a worry for the club especially when Lincoln’s bid is lower than they would like. For as long as he is still on their books, the Bristol Rovers boss looks to be less immediate with a new signing.
Furthermore, Rovers will be hoping that their injured players make a quick recovery in order to give them more options up front as they search for goals.
