Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall has sent a message to his teammate Ryan Yates on social media, after the midfielder signed a long-term contract at the City Ground.

Yates has been with Forest since the age of eight and it was announced earlier today that has committed his future to the club by signing a long-term deal, which will keep him at City Ground until 2023.

The 22-year-old has risen through the ranks at Forest and made his first-team debut for the club last season. Since then, the midfielder has been able to establish himself as a key player for the Reds and has made 21 appearances so far - scoring one goal.

Forest centre-back Worrall - who has been one of the standout players for the Reds so far this season - has sent a message to Yates on social media, congratulating him on his new contract.

Yates missed the start of the season for Forest after undergoing knee surgery in the summer, but returned to action in October and has made four Championship appearances for the Reds so far this term.

Meanwhile, Worrall has been magnificent for Forest so far this season and has played every minute of every game in the Championship at centre-back.

The Verdict

Yates is a talented footballer and his performances for Forest so far have been very promising. It's a major boost for the club to get him tied down to a new deal and it shows great ambition from the club too.

As a player who has been with the club since the age of eight, I'm sure Yates will be over the moon to have committed his future to Forest and I'm sure he'll really appreciate this message from Worrall too.

Like Yates, Worrall is a local lad who has risen through the ranks at the club and has gone to establish himself an important player. I'm sure there are plenty of Forest fans out there who are hoping that the defender will be the next to sign a new deal.
